Bye bye e-bike

Two years and thousands of miles, a hundreds of pounds saved on trains, the e-bike seems to have given up, for now.   It started with each time it got wet being hard to get it started the next day.   I had to turn it off and on once of twice as I pedaled for it to finally come into life and I would zoom off.   I bought it indoors and unplugged all the cables for weekend and that seemed to sort it out… until it rained again.

I repeated the idea of bringing it indoors and unplugging it, but this time upon plugging everything back in again nothing happened when I turned it on, the display didn’t even come on.   Looking at the connector there is certainly water damage and bits of green, but it is a bit strange that now it won’t even turn on.

I decided to call it a day for a while and within no time I had stripped the bike of all its e-bike bits and it was back to a normal bike again.   All a bit sad as having the boost as you pedal takes a lot of thinking away from a daily 20 mile commute.

The plan is to revisit it, maybe in the summer, maybe once I have had a think and a read, see if I can either get it to power up again or to order a new controller and display with the idea that I already have the expensive wheel and battery.

didn’t take too long to remove it all and turn it back into a normal bike

I find out why the chain slips in the highest gear…. will look at replacing this
